Many of us might not be aware of the fact that our Android can be used as a wifi hotspot. If you are using Android 2.2 (Froyo) or above, there is a cool feature there in the Settings named as Tethering & portable hotspot. Now lets figure out that what its mean, with the help of Tethering & portable hotspot you can use your phone as a wifi router and share your internet connectivity with other wifi devices like Laptop, PDAs, Smart Phones, etc. Just follow the steps below to turn your phone a wifi router :
- Go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Tethering & portable hotspot.
- Now you just need to check the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot option. If you are using it for the first time then will ask for a password. Enter any password, you can also change or disable it later from Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.
- When the connection is successful, icon of Tethering or hotspot sctive will be there in the top. You can configure it to change the password and the name.
- Congratulations! Your Android is now working as a Wi-Fi router. Just turn on your wifi enabled gadget, scan for Wi-Fi network and you can see the AndroidAP connection.
Note : When you turn on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, battery drains very fastly so better connect your mobile to charger
